GUEST OF HONOUR
Born in Bucharest in Romania, Radu Mihaileanu is the son of a deported Jewish journalist. When he was 22 years old, he emigrated from Romania to France because of the Romanian’s dictatorship. After graduating from the Fémis, a national film school, he worked as an editor before working as a director. Now known from all over the world, Radu Mihaileanu is a notorious film director who reunited more than 12 milions of viewers with his movies.
Due to his background, he is now a very committed director. Each one of his movies is about a society issue, such as liberty (TRAHIR), identity (TRAIN DE VIE), banishment (VA, VIS ET DEVIENS) and women’s rights (LA SOURCE DES FEMMES).
When a journalist asked him which advice he would give to a young director, he answered: “Be sincere, reveal yourself, confess your story, expose your true personnality. Do not hide behind the crowd, it’s not a necessity to blend in. Trust yourself.”
Today he presents the screening of LE CONCERT, an entertaining comedy in which we can all witness his prodigious talent. After the screening, all the spectators are invited to share a little chat with him.
